A note for parents

Tally marks are a quick way to count, with four lines and a fifth that crosses them. Counting by fives is a great skill.

How to help

  • Count the groups of five first.
  • Then add the extra lines.
  • Make a tally of something at home.

Choose "Actual size" or "100%" when printing. A4 is 210 x 297 mm; US Letter is 8.5 x 11 in. The black-and-white version uses less ink.
