A note for parents

Tracing the big and little versions of X, Y and Z builds letter recognition and pencil control at the same time. It takes about 10 minutes; one letter per sitting is fine.

How to help

  • Say the sounds as they trace: X says /x/ as in xylophone, box; Y says /y/ as in yo-yo, yellow; Z says /z/ as in zipper, zebra.
  • Start every letter at the top and say the path out loud.
  • Use the empty spaces at the end of each line for free writing.

Choose "Actual size" or "100%" when printing. A4 is 210 x 297 mm; US Letter is 8.5 x 11 in. The black-and-white version uses less ink.
